NEW FAMILY MEMBER FOR THE MEDIUM POWER RANGE

NEW FAMILY MEMBER FOR THE MEDIUM POWER RANGE

Jednotky MC 3603 S

Miniature motors and micromotors only become a reliable drive system when combined with the matching Motion Controller. This is why the extensive range of motors offered by the drive specialist FAULHABER includes a broad selection of Motion Controllers which are designed in different power classes with or without housing for a wide variety of applications. There is now a new addition to the family of Motion Controllers without housing: The MC3603 which owing to its compact size is ideal for integration in equipment manufacturing and medical technology applications. With 36 V and 3 A (peak current 9 A), the new Motion Controller covers the medium power range up to approx. 100 W. It is suitable for “normal” DC-motors with encoder, brushless drives and linear motors. The I/O options and encoder interfaces are the same as the rest of the product family. USB, RS232, CANopen and EtherCAT are available for communication. The Motion Controller already has the new firmware version “M”. To ensure simple and convenient system setup, the latest update (version 6.9) of the FAULHABER Motion Manager should be used.

EMC-compliant design for all Motion Controllers
With the introduction of the new MC 3603, the Motion Controllers now cover the entire application range typical for miniature motors and micromotors, starting with the postage stamp sized MC 3001 with 30 W and 1 A (peak current 2 A) through to the MC 5010, the largest member of the family with 10 A (peak current 30 A), which is designed for installation in switching cabinets and has been tried and tested primarily in the industrial sector. All motion controllers comply with current EMC regulations. This is why the drive specialists have explored this complex topic in great detail. Not only has the hardware been appropriately optimized, but the documentation has also been redesigned to provide users with the best possible support during the certification of their own devices.

Steper Motor AM3248

Steper Motor AM3248

With its speed and torque, the new AM3248 stepper motor from FAULHABER raises the bar in terms of performance and dimensions.

Offering up to 10,000 rpm, it can achieve five times the speed of comparable stepper motors. Combined with a gearhead reduction of 100:1, it supplies a torque of 5 Nm. The motor delivers these values with a diameter of just 32 mm. This makes it ideally suited for a wide range of applications in areas such as aerospace, laboratory automation, large optical systems, the semiconductor industry, robotics and 3D printing.

Powerful and extremely miniaturised

Powerful and extremely miniaturised

With the new MC3001 motion controllers, available as MC 3001 B (board-to-board connectors) or MC3001P (28-pin plug connector), FAULHABER completes the MC V3.0 generation of controllers for smaller motor series.

The controllers are extremely miniaturised and, with 1.4 amperes in continuous operation and up to 5 amperes peak current, are very powerful. They are designed as slaves for control and positioning tasks of DC-micromotors, linear DC servomotors or brushless DC-motors.

The new MC 3001 are unhoused versions of the FAULHABER motion controllers and, by means of the integrated output stage with optimized current measurement, can control DC-micromotors, linear DC-servomotors or brushless DC-motors from the FAULHABER product line from 6 to 30 millimeters. They are configured here via the FAULHABER Motion Manager software V6 (version 6.8 and higher). The very good EMC behaviour of the new motion controllers has been certified by external laboratories.

Integrated referencing with AEMT

In combination with brushless DC-servomotors, the new magnetic AEMT-12/16 L absolute encoder delivers absolute angle information with a preset multiturn resolution of 16 bits (65536 revolutions) and a singleturn resolution of 12 bits (4096 steps) for commutation, speed control and motion control.

This position data can be queried by a SSI Interface with BiSS-C Protocol. With a line driver, the interface is designed differentially and is based on the RS422 standard. It is thereby possible to position the motor/encoder unit up to five metres away from the controller.

The BiSS-C protocol is designed for industrial applications in which high transmission speed, flexibility and minimal implementation effort are required. Digital Hall sensors for commutation of the motors are no longer generally needed. With AEMT, sine commutation is possible as is very efficient operation of the motor with minimal torque ripple.
